Bringing Holiday Joy Back

As December begins, Ukraine welcomes the holiday season with Andriyivski Vechornytsi and St. Nicholas Day—cherished traditions that bring families together. After years of hardship, people finally have a chance to embrace the festive spirit, reconnect with their roots, and create new memories. On December 6th, children eagerly await St. Nicholas Day, waking up to gifts tucked under their pillows—a tradition that embodies kindness and hope. Andriyivski Vechornytsi, celebrated on December 13th, is a night of laughter, fortune-telling, and age-old customs, offering a glimpse into the rich folklore that connects generations.

For many who lost their homes and loved ones, this season is about more than tradition—it’s about reclaiming joy and rebuilding a sense of normalcy. At Hansen Ukrainian Mission, we are honored to help bring the warmth of the holidays back, ensuring that even in difficult times, the spirit of hope and togetherness shines bright.
